Neuropuncture is a recent system of acupuncture that combines neuroscience, other Western medical sciences and present acupuncture research, to the classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture model. It is a system, developed by Michael D. Corradino, that incorporates neurophysiological mechanisms and the application of electrical acupuncture. Neuropuncture targets specific nervous system receptors for the release of specific neuropeptides, reset dysfunctional visceral autonomic reflexes for improved organ function, to depolarizing excited overstimulated nerve roots for pain management. Neuropuncture works by predominately targeting and stimulating specific neuro-tissue.
